🇺🇸The U.S. Army has awarded #Raytheon Technologies a $624.6 million contract to produce #Stinger MANPADS to replenish its own stocks after sending approximately 1,400 #MANPADS to #Ukraine. The expected completion date of the contract is June 30, 2026.
"The contract includes provisions for engineering support as well as test equipment and support needed to address obsolescence, upgrade key components and accelerate production," the company said in a statement. Earlier, Raytheon CEO Greg Hayes said that his company may not be able to produce more Stingers until at least 2023, and since some components are no longer available on the market, the electronics in the rocket seeker head will have to be redesigned. Under the current contract, it is planned to purchase 1300 MANPADS.
