Tomorrow - Mask Enforcement

Team,

In preparation for tomorrow's mask enforcement please note the following.

  • Safety & Security will have an enhanced presence throughout LCPS.
  • Keep SOC informed of developing situations, 703-779-8833.
  • Consider moving to one entrance for arrivals to help staff control potential incoming adults.
  • Consider designating outdoor parent gathering areas.
  • Parents should only be admitted at your discretion.
  • Reminder: While parents have certain educational rights they do NOT have the right to enter your school without proper vetting and permission.
  • For parents picking up kids - consider keeping them outside and bring their child to them.
  • Ensure strict adherence to visitor management protocols.
  • For non-compliant peaceful parents or students, SROs and Safety and Security will support school admin with a visible deterrent and supportive de-escalation tactics.
  • Absent threatening or violent behavior neither the SRO nor Safety and Security will physically intervene with any student or parent refusing to wear a mask or leave the campus
  • LCSO/LPD has informed us SROs will NOT go hands on, nor will they enforce a verbal no trespass for peaceful mask non-compliance without a trespass summons/warrant being issued from a magistrate.
  • LCSO/LPD has also advised that SROs will NOT enforce a suspension letter/no trespass without a trespass summons/warrant being issued from a magistrate.
  • If you determine that an individual should be trespassed then a school admin representative, in conjunction with S&S Coordinator Rich Thomas (571-420-2428), will proceed to the magistrate to swear out a trespass summons/warrant. School admin will meet Rich Thomas at the Safety & Security office and then proceed to the magistrate, which is located next to our office.
  • Trespasser name, address and DOB will be needed to obtain the summons/warrant.
  • Once issued by the magistrate, the summons/warrant will be served by law enforcement. This process may take up to 24 hours.
  • Reminder: No media is allowed on any campuses during a school day.

As always, threatening or violent behavior should and will be dealt with immediately and without hesitation.

Stay safe!
