Masking our children

In the elevator. Door opens. A father and his toddler, in a stroller, enter. Her MASK is loose. I am able to see her adorable face. I make sure she sees mine as I greet her with a smile and a "Hi". Dad is friendly. He adjusts her MASK so her face is covered. She is sweetly agreeable. He shares, "She just turned TWO so we are using the MASK now." I compliment him(and her) as they exit the elevator. But, I don't mean it. Really. I am so concerned for these children. They never see a smile from a stranger. I made sure she saw MINE.
