Pelosi ended your Stimulus Payments - Mitch McConnell will revive them on October 19th
As Nancy Pelosi continues to crash markets and reject helping struggling Americans, while struggling to explain her priorities and the reason behind them, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says that a new stimulus bill will be the “first order of business” when the Senate comes back into session on October 19th.
Pelosi has states she wants an all-encompassing, multi-trillion-dollar package that includes aid for illegal-immigrants and failing democratic run cities and refuses to allow a vote on anything less than that.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced in a tweet on Tuesday that the legislative body’s first order of business when it reconvenes on October 19th “will be voting on targeted relief for American workers, including new funding for the PPP (Paycheck Protection Program).”
McConnell discussed his proposal at an event in his home state of Kentucky this week, claiming that it will include money for schools, another unemployment insurance boost, and liability protections for businesses. Most, if not all, of this would have been addressed in the Democrats’ updated HEROES Act, but with no deal in sight, McConnell’s bill would give cover to vulnerable Republican senators who are being criticized for their lack of action and allow them to push forward with Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation.
The $500 billion relief package is said to include new funding for the PPP, funding for schools, a boost to unemployment insurance, and liability protection for businesses.
Unlike the HEROES Act, the bill is unlikely to include another round of $1,200 stimulus checks.
The problem, however, is that any progress on a new stimulus bill keeps running into the same roadblock in the House — Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to allow anything less than an all-or-nothing deal to get a vote in the House. The House Speaker berated CNN‘s Wolf Blitzer, as a GOP “apologist” who is wrong to ask the speaker to make a deal over a bill narrowly tailored to stimulus checks.
Wolf Blitzer to Nancy Pelosi: "You got to come up with a compromise. As I said, there's a Democratic majority in the House, a Republican majority in the Senate. You got to work together. There are a lot of people out there who need help right now."
