Uber driver and Penn State assistant professor of Information Science and Technology at the university's Beaver campus, is arrested for kidnapping after he 'locked two women in his car and told them: "You're not going anywhere"'

  • Richard Lomotey, 36, was arrested on Saturday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • He is facing two counts each of kidnapping, false imprisonment and harassment
  • Two women told police they were picked up by a male driver who commented on their appearance and did not follow GPS directions to the requested address
  • He then pulled over and put the car in park before trying to lock the doors as the women escaped from the backseat
  • Police identified Lomotey via the Uber app and took him into custody
  • A spokeswoman for Pennsylvania State University confirmed Lomotey is an assistant professor at the school's Beaver campus

“Police identified the suspect by his Uber app identification and photo,” police searched in the area for the car but did not find it.

Police are obtaining an arrest warrant for kidnapping, harassment and false imprisonment.
