Scenes of devastation in Mariupol, Ukraine
Mariupol is a city in south eastern Ukraine, situated on the north coast of the Sea of Azov at the mouth of the Kalmius river, in the Pryazovia region. It is the tenth-largest city in Ukraine, and the second largest in Donetsk Oblast with a population of 431,859.
Rescue efforts are being hindered by the complete breakdown of social services in the city and the dangers of further Russian attacks. As the war drags on with the U.S. supplying more and more weapons to prolong the misery on both sides.
