In Case of a Nuclear Bomb Explosion Remember to Duck and Cover - Bert The Turtle
"Duck and cover" is a method of personal protection against the effects of a nuclear explosion. Ducking and covering is useful at conferring a degree of protection to personnel located outside the radius of the nuclear fireball but still within sufficient range of the nuclear explosion that standing upright and uncovered is likely to cause serious injury or death.
Remember the Rule Of Seven: Seven hours after the nuclear explosion, the radiation will be 1/10 of its peak; seven times seven (49 hours, or two days) it will be 1/100, and seven times that (basically, two weeks) it will be 1/1000. This is the essence of the sound-but-mocked “Duck and Cover” advice from Bert The Turtle over half a century ago.
