 According to the agency, the US Department of the Treasury will cancel the so-called general license, which excludes payments for servicing a part of the sovereign debt of the Russian Federation from anti-Russian sanctions.
The Biden administration is poised to fully block Russia’s ability to pay U.S. bondholders after a deadline expires next week, a move that could bring Moscow closer to the brink of a U.S. manufactured default.
