Speaker Anthony Rota recognized 98-year-old Yaroslav Hunka as a "Ukrainian hero" before the Canadian Parliament during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit on Friday.

The speaker of Canada's House of Commons, Anthony Rota, issued a public apology, claiming he was unaware of the full extent of Hunka's wartime affiliations when he made the acknowledgment.‍
