Parler was not hacked, a WordPress config file that was leaked online in July is circulating again.
An old Parler configuration file for its WordPress website leaked online today, sending Twitter into a frenzy.
The screenshot circulating of a Parler database password is old, from July 2020 and it was for a Front facing WordPress website, that Parler may seemingly have used for blog posts and announcements, if it was used by Parler it could have been used for testing purposes, and was not the held on the same infrastructure as the main site, neither does it relate to the main system.
This has not prevented the Extreme-Far-Left from taking to Twitter and Doxing Parler's details all over their pages.
You can view the Archived page here, dated 17 Jul 2020 19:40:05 UTC:
Doxing is described as the search for and publishing of private or identifying information about a particular individual or company on the internet, typically with malicious intent.
Whatever Your Side, Doxing Is a Perilous Form of Justice.
While the extreme right and the far left use different logic to justify their actions, the end result is often the same.
Doxing is a sloppy form of vigilante justice that often hurts many beyond the intended target.
Parler CEO John Matze released the following statement on the now debunked claims that the social media site was hacked.
Here are some Twitter comments from today:
All y'all freaking out about Parler having a WordPress config file lying around are going to lose your god damn minds once I drop details on their user data leakage containing personal information of Washington Examiner readers dating back to 2015.
I don't know how the fuck one legally asks their userbase for SSN as a conditional on accessing site functions. But that's not even the craziest part. They fucking agreed to it.
Dude, they fucking created the site off of the WORDPRESS SYSTEM.
Dearly beloved,
We have gathered here today to celebrate the sudden and deserved demise of Parler Inc. A young company snuffed out by it's own hubris, greed and ambition, Parler was a cautionary tale. In it's passing we can only say: GOODBYE & GOOD RIDDANCE!
An old joke - 1st Guy: I hate Twitter censorship
2nd Guy: Twitter is a private company...
1st Guy: I'm going to Parler, where they respect my freedom of speech! *Leaves, then comes back*
2nd Guy: I thought you went to Parler?
1st Guy: Everyone I want to bully is on Twitter
