Biden insists '12 people behind the majority of online vaccine misinformation'
Biden does a u-turn and says 'Facebook ISN'T killing people': President insists he was talking about the '12 people behind the majority of online vaccine misinformation' when he attacked Mark Zuckerberg
- Joe Biden did a u-turn on Monday by saying 'Facebook isn't killing people'
- He pleaded that instead of CEO Mark Zuckerberg 'taking it personally' he 'do something' to combat misinformation about the coronavirus vaccine
- Said: 'These 12 people are out there giving misinformation, anyone listening to it is getting hurt by it. It's killing people. It's bad information'
- Last week, the president had a message for Facebook: 'They're killing people. I mean it really. Look, the only pandemic we have is among the unvaccinated'
- 'We know that health misinformation harms people's health. It costs them their lives,' Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said on Sunday
- The social media outlet hit back against the president's comments in a statement on Saturday telling the administration they are not to blame
- 'While social media plays an important role in society, it is clear that we need a whole of society approach to end this pandemic,' the VP of integrity wrote
