Alan Dershowitz DEFENDS Jeffrey Epstein - I would try to get a better deal

Alan Dershowitz DEFENDS former client Jeffrey Epstein and says he wishes the convicted pedophile had got a lighter sentence in addition to non-prosecution promise. 'I would try to get a better deal'. Jeffrey Epstein's former lawyer, claims plea deal was fair and would do it again.

Just days after his former client was convicted on charges of sex trafficking minor females, attorney Alan Dershowitz is defending the convicted pedophile.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Dershowitz said that he had no reason to believe Epstein was guilty and then lamented the sweetheart deal his client got a decade ago, despite allegations he had molested 40 minor females.

'I would try to get a better deal,' said Dershowitz of the 13-month sentence which was served out at a barracks and allowed Epstein to leave for work six days a week.  

'The job of a criminal defense attorney is to try to get the best possible deal.'

• The lawyer claimed Epstein's wealth worked against him the case, saying: 'I think a lot of people without the power and wealth might've gotten a better deal'
• He also said that the Epstein accuser who claims she also had sexual relations with him is a liar, and said he could prove this, but did not reveal how
• That woman, Virginia Roberts, is currently suing Dershowitz for defamation 

Dershowitz said he was "shocked" by the allegations against Epstein and had never seen him with underage girls. 

"No. Oh, no. If I had ever seen Jeffrey Epstein in any inappropriate situation with an underage girl, I would've terminated my relationship and turned him in. No way," Dershowitz said. "We were shocked by the allegations, but as a criminal lawyer, being shocked by an allegation doesn't mean that I won't defend somebody."

Dershowitz also said in the interview that the 2008 deal was good for the prosecution, which he claimed lacked evidence against Epstein, although one detective told the Miami Herald that the evidence against the billionaire was overwhelming. 

"They made a deal, and for them it was not a bad deal," Dershowitz said. "They got him to be a registered sex offender, to pay vast amounts of money to all the women and to get him to plead and go to jail and expose him for the world to see as a sex offender. I think the feds thought it was the best they could do."
