Nyingtri Prefecture (ཉིང་ཁྲི།) means the seat of the sun in the Tibetan language. It is also called Kongpo in Tibetan. The region boasts its natural beauty, It is noted for its greenery and scenic beauty. The prefecture has a well-preserved forest, giving the region the title of Natural museum and the gene pool.

Shigatse prefecture (གཞི་ཀ་རྩེ།) is the central prefecture of Tibet. The area is traditionally known as Tsang.
