I'm trying to figure out this Trump/Elon thing. For some reason I get the feeling they're working together on this in an attempt to roll out something YUGE ..... The arguing is meant to push a certain dynamic group in a direction they wouldn't normally go, and once they realize what just happened it will be too late to go back.

I think there is a rift that has formed because Trump will not subsidize EV's and will not appoint Jared Isaacman to head NASA, this put's Musk in a bad position. On top of that, the BBB does not codify the DOGE spending cuts, and it includes a $20 billion program that seeks to provide financing for climate-friendly projects some of which go against SpaceX.
In short Musk was looking for a return on his time and $288 million investment in the 2024 election and feels like he has been short changed.
While I stand with Trump, both him and Musk should tone down this fight and find common ground.
I heard about the EV subsidies but wasn't aware of the other parts of your comment. This makes sense. (edited typo)
