In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.... 

God presented Jesus as our atoning sacrifice through faith in His blood, in order to demonstrate His righteousness. In His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand; and God, in all this, declared His righteousness.
