NEW - ARD public broadcaster showed a first "projection" for the German general election in a ticker tape for a very short time - two days before the actual deadline.
In the meantime, ARD has published a statement on Twitter that the figures shown were fictitious.
The 2021 German federal election is expected to be held on 26 September 2021 to elect the members of the 20th Bundestag.
