Biden admin to buy 500 million doses of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine with American tax dollars & donate them to about 100 countries over the next two years.
The move comes ahead of Biden's report on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and amid controversy over possible U.S. funding of gain-of-function research in Wuhan.
About 200 million doses will be distributed this year, with the remainder delivered in 2022.
The US has been under pressure to raise vaccination rates in poor countries.
