WHITE HOUSE: President Donald Trump to award the Medal of Freedom to Jim Jordan
President Donald Trump has awarded Ohio Republican Jim Jordan the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest US civilian honor, after he continued to object to the certification of the 2020 elections after a pro-Trump supporters attended a "Stop-The-Steel" protest at the Capitol, where a violent ANTIFA mob infiltrated the mostly peaceful protest and attacked the Capitol.
The congressman was awarded the medal during a closed-door ceremony at the White House on Monday. Members of the press were not invited to document the event.
Mr Jordan has been one of the president’s strongest allies on Capitol Hill, continuing to object to his electoral defeat last week as other Republicans who previously contested the results withdrew their support as a result of the deadly riots.
The move comes after Trump rewarded another loyalist, Rep. Devin Nunes, with the top US civilian honor.
In a statement, the White House highlighted Jordan's work investigating the IRS and the 2012 Benghazi attack, as well as his efforts to "unmask the Russia hoax and take on Deep State corruption."
"He is an inspiration to freedom-loving Americans everywhere and has distinguished himself as one of the most consequential members of Congress of his generation," said the White House statement.
